Parkwood Beach, Wareham - Yvonne D. Haitsma, 79, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of Chester J. “Chet” Haitsma. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1943, the daughter of the late George V. and Julia M. (Conlon) Desrats.
She had her Masters in education and taught in private schools. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her morning swimming workout at the YMCA. She was a volunteer at ‘Helping Hands and Hooves’ of Mattapoisett for many years.
She is survived by her son Thomas J. “Tom” Haitsma of Wareham, her sister in-law Jane Desrats, of Warwick, NY, and she was the aunt of Richie, Jon, Robin, Renee and Julie Desrats. She was the sister of the late Richard Desrats.
Services are private.
