Richard “Smitty” J. Smith, 82, of Wareham, MA passed away on January 31, 2026. He leaves behind his wife Regina (Gabrey) Smith of 53 years of Wareham and his daughter Courtney Smith of Kingston, MA
Born on July 20, 1943 in Boston, to the late Mary (Parks) Smith and Edward Smith, he spent the majority of his life in Wareham and graduated from Wareham High. He was also survived by many loving relatives and friends. He was the brother of the late Mary (Smith) Hogan of Onset, MA.
He retired early from Chrysler and went on to have successful careers as a truck driver for PSS, parts manager at Barden Boat Yard and spent his later years detailing boats on Martha’s Vineyard. "Smitty" will be remembered for his sense of humor, his famous “Smitty-isms” and having a knack for always making everyone laugh. He had a love for country western movies and TV shows, boating, and traveling.
