Peter D. Fernandes

Peter D. Fernandes, of West Wareham, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on March 23, 2021 at the age of 91. Peter was born on June 29, 1929 in Wareham to the late Manuel F. and Lillian (Barros) Fernandes. Peter was the loving husband of the late Kathy (Palladino) Fernandes.

He attended Wareham Public Schools, served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a Union Carpenter for many  years.  He was a late member of the “BOOB” (Boaters of Onset Bay) a boater’s club.  He loved his 38-foot cabin cruiser named “ 'M TA-ODJA,BU “.  He enjoyed boating, fishing and looked forward to his daily routine of breakfast at Stevie's and then reckless eyeballing on the Onset Pier. Custom Cabinetry & Finish Carpentry was his specialty but his real passion was his children, grandkids and great grandkids.

He is survived by his children: Corinne Fernandes and her life-long partner Joseph Silvia, Kay Gomes, Peter D. Fernandes Jr. all of West Wareham and  Carolyn Fernandes-Hall and her wife Joelle Hall of GA.  He was the grandfather of David Gomes, Michael Fernandes, Brandy Medina, Taylor Gomes, Sydney Fernandes, Dana Gomes, Kaylee Gomes, Sonny  Fernandes, III., Reign Fernandes, Storm Fernandes, Myles Fernandes and Lilyanna Fernandes.  He was also survived by 9 great grandchildren and a host of loving foster brothers, sister, relatives and friends.

Memorial visiting hours will be held on Monday April 5 from 4-6 pm only in the Wareham Village Funeral Home 5 Center Street.  Please respect masks and social distancing.  A graveside committal will be held on Tuesday April 6 at 11 am in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery Tihonet Road Wareham, MA 02571.
