Peter Baptiste, Jr. "Pete" Obituary

Peter “Pete” Baptiste

August 16, 1968 – September 27, 2026

Some people leave this world quietly. Pete Baptiste was never really one of those people. Pete was born on August 16, 1968, to Georgie Baptiste (Soares) and Peter Baptiste Sr., their firstborn and from the very beginning, he was precocious, adventurous, strong willed, and entirely his own person. He was a strong and silent man, the kind who didn’t need to fill a room with words to make his presence known.

Those who knew him affectionately called him Rambo and Conan the Barbarian, and somehow, both names fit perfectly. But behind the tough exterior was a man who loved deeply. Pete is survived by his loving and protective mother, Georgie, for whom he would do absolutely anything. He loved his mother fiercely, and protecting the people he loved was simply part of who Pete was.  Pete is also survived by his two younger sisters, Nicole (Darian) and Heather, who would probably both agree that there are no words in the English language adequate enough to describe just how much we got on his nerves growing up. Pete was our protector. He was our big brother.

We find comfort in knowing that Pete and Christi’s precious daughter, Olivia, will forever be a cherished part of their family, she was and still is deeply loved. We find solace knowing that Pete and his beautiful daughter, his precious baby, are now reunited, together at last, in eternal peace and love.

He is preceded niece, Christa, who passed away in 1996. Pete is also survived by his beloved nephews Cole and Ari, and his niece Ariyah. His relationship with Cole was something particularly special. The two shared a bond that was difficult to explain unless you had the privilege of witnessing it. Cole is, in so many ways, a younger and shorter version of his Uncle Pete and we say that with nothing but enormous pride.

Christi Fried... his superwoman, his life partner, his ENTIRE world. Fifteen years ago, Pete metthe love of his life. Together, they traveled. They explored. They experienced new places, new things, and new adventures. She showed him that there was a world beyond the familiar and Pete allowed her to take him there. They created memories that belonged only to them. Places they went. Things they saw. Adventures they shared. Moments that will forever be part of their story. They complemented each other in a way that simple words cannot adequately describe. Christi stood beside Pete from the very beginning of their relationship until the moment he took his last breath. She never left his side. Their story is not simply one of love.

It is a story of devotion. For fifteen years, they built a life in which two people became so intertwined that it is impossible to tell the story of one without honoring the other. Christi, you will forever be a part of our family!

Their fur babies, Bear and Harry, knew the kind of love that came naturally to him. Pete had a soft spot for animals that revealed yet another side of the man beneath the quiet exterior.

Pete’s legacy is not the things he owned. Not the stories we could tell. Not even the strength everyone saw.  His greatest legacy was the people and animals who felt safe because he was there. He was Pete.

There is an old saying:  “A great man is not measured by the size of his strength, but by the size of the hearts he leaves behind.”

Pete left behind some very big hearts, and they are broken.

But they are also full of stories, laughter, arguments, adventures, memories, and a love that death cannot take away. Somewhere, someday, when someone mentions the zombie apocalypse, one of us will inevitably say: “Pete would have known what to do.” and we’ll laugh Because he would have.

Rest peacefully, Pete. You spent your life protecting the people you loved. You can finally put down the armor. We have it from here.
