Michael D. Murphy

Murphy, Michael D. 91, of Onset, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion.  He was the husband of 64 years to the late Barbara C. Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a Wareham high school graduate, A U.S.M.C Korean war veteran, former police officer and Detective for the Wareham Police Dept. from 1958 – 1978.  He was also an avid New England sports fan and yes, a NY Giants fan.  He loved having his family around, especially his grandchildren.  He looked forward to Sunday dinners with his family, playing cards and board games.

Survivors include his son, David and his wife Gigi of Carver and his grandchildren, Jacob and Meghan Murphy.  He was predeceased by his son, the late Peter M. Murphy, his grandchildren Michael and Katie Murphy, his parents the late Michael and Dorothy (Degan) Murphy, his sister Pat Raymond, his sister Katy Antell and her husband Ray.  

A graveside service for both Barbara and Michael will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11 am in Agawam Cemetery.  Memorial gifts may be made to the Wareham Police Association 2515 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, MA 02571.
