Michael L. Mihalec passed peacefully at home with family on August 13 th , 2024, after several years dealing with cancer.
Michael was born May 24 th , 1954 to his parents Michael A. and Anne T. Mihalec . He lived the first years of his life in Roslindale, MA and later moved to Foxborough, MA where he spent the rest of his formative years and graduated from Foxborough High school in the class of 1972, with many lifelong friends.
He went on to earn a bachelors in audiology and business from UMASS Amherst. After graduation Mike traveled the United States and made his way west to Lake Tahoe where he worked to save up for continued travels that took him around the globe. He had a love for photography and documented many of his travels that he would later share with friends and family through his many slides.
Upon coming back to the states Michael took the reins of his father’s business, F.F. Gilmore Company, and grew the business to become a leader in the diamond tooling and hardness testing industry. He enjoyed the work and passed his love of the trade on to his two sons, Greg and Corey.
Michael loved being on the water, and being with his family. He spent much of his time boating during the summers, as well as ice skating and ice fishing with friends throughout the winters. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time in Florida with his wife, Gail. He is survived by his loving wife Gail, sons Kevin, Greg, and Corey, as well as a sister, Mary Mihalec.
