Michael J. Gifford, 72, of West Wareham, passed away on December 4, 2024, at the VA Hospice House in Brockton, after battling cancer.
He was born in Wareham on May 26, 1952 to Paul L. Gifford and Fay E. (Ferren) Gifford. He attended Wareham Public Schools and then enlisted in the U.S. Army 06/1972 and was Honorably Discharged on 06/1978.
Michael had a career working in carpentry, welding and plant maintenance in MA, NH and in Houston, TX, Denver, CO, and Canada. He retired in 2011.
In retirement, he loved to read, relax on his porch with friends and family and cook steamers or a good steak on the grill. He enjoyed his corvette and would go to car shows or for rides to visit family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori von Gretener and her husband, Phillip, of Cary, NC, a son, James Q. Gifford and his wife, Patricia, of Fort Mill, SC, and a son, John P. Gifford, of Palm Harbor, FL, and a daughter, Jaclyn Clarida and her husband, Jeremy, and their two children, Juliana and Jonah, of Dunedin, FL.
He is also survived by his sister, Lynn P. McDonald, and her husband, John, of Wareham and a nephew, Michael A. Painter, and his wife, Tina, of Wareham.
Michael was predeceased by his younger brother, Clayton R. Gifford, his mother, Fay E. Gifford, and his father, Paul L. Gifford.
Burial Services will be private.
