John M. Balanca

John Manuel Balanca, 81 - Passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  John was born to Josephine and Domingos Balanca, in Milford, MA.  After graduating from Milford High School, he went on to become a plumber and was self-employed for many years. He was also employed by the Milford Housing Authority.  Upon moving to Onset, MA, John became a plumbing instructors aide at Upper Cape Tech. Teaching and working with the students was by far his favorite job.  

Throughout his life, John was an unforgettable free spirit, everyone who knew him was touched by his humor and warm personality.  John married his high school sweetheart, Francine Volpe. They lived in Hopedale for many years before moving to Onset. John and Fran recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Together they raised their four children, Jack, Kris, Rich and Rob.

He leaves behind his wife, four children, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, his brother David and his wife, Millie, many close relatives and friends.  Family time, fishing, hunting, traveling and mystery rides are just a few of his may hobbies and favorite things to do. His purpose in life was to spread joy and share happiness.  John always had a smile on his face and a joke or two to brighten your day.  He enjoyed making everyone he met smile and to say that he will be deeply missed is an under-statement. He will be missed by all. We loved the bald head with the pony tail !

Church services will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 10:00a.m., at the Church of the Good Shepherd located at 74 High Street, Wareham, MA.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations payable to  Amedisys,  C/O Beacon Hospice, 68 Center Street, Suite 19, Hyannis, Massachusetts, 02601
