Jayne Carboni Obituary

Jayne Rae (Hannigan) Carboni, 68, of Wareham, and formerly of Taunton, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2022 in her home, surrounded in the love and care of her son Jeff and daughter-in-law Felicia, after suffering long-term complications after a surgical procedure. She was the wife of the late Richard D. Carboni, who passed away in 2014.

Born in Middleboro on August 4, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Lorraine M. (MacKinnon) Hannigan and Raymond M. Hannigan, of Taunton, MA. Raised and educated in Taunton, MA, she graduated from Taunton High School in 1972, where her yearbook listed her activities as pep squad, red cross, horseman’s club, ski & skate club, art club and future nurse’s club. After high school, she was educated as an Emergency Medical Technician. Jayne’s hobbies included art and sewing.

Jayne was a former employee of Stop and Shop, where she was introduced to her spouse Richard; a former employee of the Patriot, formerly located in Wareham, MA, where she was a cook; a former employee of her aunt and uncle’s restaurant Oceanside Pizza, formerly located beside Swift’s Beach in Wareham, MA, where she worked in all positions; and a long-time employee of Hong Kong Island, formerly located in Wareham, MA, where she managed and bartended.

Jayne enjoyed volunteering at Saint Francis Xavier School, in Acushnet, MA. Her many roles included, co-operator of weekly adult bingo, lunch-mom for various classrooms, librarian support staff, volunteer staff for the annual walk-a-thon, and other various volunteer and support roles. She also proudly contributed many recipes through the years to the school’s fundraiser cookbook.

Jayne dearly loved her family and was a devoted caregiver to many family members and friends throughout her life. Jayne was a skilled cook and entertained many family members and friends through the years in her home. She taught her son Jeff how to cook an immeasurable number of dishes and will be remembered for her stuffed shells, meat sauce, Yankee pot roast, New England clam chowder, pulled pork, and numerous other home style meals.

Jayne treasured living in the Swift’s/Hamilton Beach community where her and Richard resided together for 36 years. Jayne loved the beach and ocean, and many family members and friends have fond memories of beach days with Jayne. She also loved being outside in the sun and would frequently spend time out on the deck, enjoying the rays of the sun and conversations with family and friends. Jayne was an animal lover and cared for a multitude of stray animals in Swift’s Beach. Jayne was also an avid reader, since she was a young girl, and enjoyed several literary genres of books.

Jayne was a dynamic human being and despite enduring significant obstacles and traumas in her life she always was willing to help others. Jayne is fondly remembered for living her life with genuine passion and will be remembered for her persistence and tenacious spirit.

Jayne is survived by her son Jeffrey Carboni, and daughter-in-law Felicia, of Dartmouth, MA, and her grandchildren Evan, Owen, and Ayden. In Jayne’s memory, there is no prayer more fitting to comfort and inspire us than the peace prayer of St. Francis (The Patron Saint of animals).

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
