East Sandwich-Henry Edward Honkonen, 80, of East Sandwich passed away at the McCarthy Care Ctr. On Monday October 16, 2023. Edward was the husband of Donna M. (Freyermuth) Honkonen of E. Sandwich. He was born in Wareham the son of the late Henry E. and Saima (Silverberg) Honkonen.
Ed attended Wareham public Schools was a U.S.M.C. veteran serving aboard the U.S.S. Bexar during the Cuban Missile Crisis and a self-employed carpenter and home builder. He was an avid reader, enjoyed boating, traveling and was a New England Sports fan. Most of all he was full of kindness and generosity.
He is also survived by his sister Judy Gibbs of West Wareham. He was the uncle of Christine, Sandy, Susan & Brian. Great Uncle of Stephanie, Kayla and Hailey. He was the brother of the late William Honkonen.
