Eugene Fernandes

WAREHAM – Eugene Fernandes, 60, of Wareham, died Saturday, August 10, 2024 in Wareham unexpectedly. Born in Wareham, he was the son of Irma (Santos) Fernandes of Wareham and the late Jesse Gino Fernandes.

Eugene, affectionately known as "Disco Gene," was a vibrant soul whose infectious laughter and zest for life illuminated every room. He loved his Noxzema and bubble baths, complete with scented candles and the soulful melodies of Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, and Luther Vandross; he transformed ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences. A devoted son, he showered his mother with lavish parties. Whether he was captivating an audience with his graceful dance moves or sharing one of his countless, entertaining stories, Gene had a unique ability to bring joy to those around him. His loyalty and support for his family were evident in every action.

He is survived by his mother, Irma Fernandes of Wareham; his siblings, Gino Fernandes of Queen Creek, AZ, Marlene Gomes and her husband Benjamin of Wareham, Darlene Chambers of Wareham, Doreen Fernandes of Wareham, Leslie Gomes Preston of South Yarmouth, Sheila Paris of Providence, RI, and Derek Paris and his wife Melissa of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, the late Steven Fernandes and the late Anthony Paris; his father, the late Jessie Gino Fernandes, also his step-father, the late Edward DaLuz.
