Barnstable - Bruce Elliott Bagley, 78, of East Falmouth, formerly of Naushon Island, died February 26 at Cape Cod Hospital of heart failure. He was 78. He was the husband of Wendy M. (Pratt) Bagley, to whom he was married for 48 years.
Born in Easton, he was the son of Colin Bagley and Fern (Perkins) Bagley. Educated in the Easton school system, he attended Norfolk County Agricultural High School, graduating in 1964. It was through this school that he came to Naushon Island for an agricultural project. It became his lifelong work. He went from working in the stable to becoming the island manager. He served in that capacity for 25 years.
He met Wendy Pratt in 1976 and they married the same year. They had three sons together and raised them on Naushon. The family left the island when Mr. Bagley retired and moved to East Falmouth. In retirement, he kept busy. He became the sextant at the Church of the Messiah in Woods Hole, a job he held at the time of his death.
In addition to his wife, he leaves their three sons, Austin L. Bagley and his wife, Leah, of Colchester, Vermont and their two sons, Tucker and Riker Bagley; and Elliott P. Bagley of Lemoine, Maine, and Warren R. Bagley and his wife, Jessica Perrotta, of Attleboro; and other family.
There are no visiting hours.
There will be a celebration of his life in the spring.
