Bernadine B. "Betty" (Pina) Gomes

West Wareham-Bernadine B. Gomes,  “Betty”, 87, of West Wareham passed away on Monday December 9, 2024 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Plymouth.  She was the wife of the late Domingo A. Gomes, Sr.  Daughter of the late B. Thomas and Benvina (Lopes) Pina.

Bernadine is a graduate of Middleborough High School and worked for many years as an Unemployment District Supervisor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  She loved to travel: Alaska, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Hawaii, Peru, Tibet and Switzerland to name a few of her destinations. Skydiving in her early 70’s, gardening, yoga and walking kept her mobile into her eighties.  She was a former ‘Queen” for the Red Hat Society. 

She is survived by her son Michael  ‘Mike” Gomes and his wife Loretta of Middleborough.  Her sisters Patricia “Pat” Barboza of VA.  Shirley Rose and her husband Paul of Middleborough.  Her grandchildren; Jason, Thomas, Destiny, Danya, Nico, Stephanie, Alex and Kelvin.  Her great grandchildren Jayson, Jayliana “JJ”, Jazlyn, Avia, Nàsir and Arabella. She was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Mother of the late Domingo Gomes, Jr., sister of the late Mary Leighton, grandmother of the late Derrick Gomes and sister in-Law of the late Manuel Barboza.
