Anthony Monteiro Obituary

Buzzards Bay-Anthony M. “Bobby” Monteiro, 89, of Buzzards Bay / Wareham passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.  Mr. Monteiro was the husband of 70 years to Charlotte (Silva) Monteiro also of Buzzards Bay / Wareham.  He was the son of the late Caesar & Anastasia (Sweeney) Monteiro.

Bobby was self-employed as a carpenter/painter and also worked in the cranberry bogs. Anthony served in the U.S. Army from 1948 – 1950, with Battery B, (east side) 903rd AAA Battalion at Fort Clayton, in the Canal Zone as a Pvt.

He enjoyed playing the drums in numerous bands and for his church, The Tabernacle of Praise.  He also enjoyed playing the guitar at home for his wife, Charlotte while she sang along.

Bobby was also survived by his cat Callie, his siblings Caesar “Sam” Monteiro, Jr. of RI, Lydia “Lilla” Pires of W. Wareham, Edwin “Eddie” Monteiro of Wareham, Catherine “Kakie” Monteiro of Onset and Robert “Robbie” Monteiro of West Wareham and many loving nieces and nephews relatives and friends. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.  He was the brother of the late Josephine ‘Maddie” Gonsalves and Mary Rose Sylvia.  He was also preceded in death by Champ and Taffy, his beloved canines.

Committal services will be held on Monday July 8, 2019, at 1:45pm in the Massachusetts National Cemetery 1 Bennington Blvd. Bourne, MA.  Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
