Mary Z (Silva) Garcia

Onset-Mary Z. Garcia, (90), of Onset, wife of the late Manuel J. Garcia, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, Wareham, MA.  Mrs. Garcia was born on the Island of Madeira, Portugal, the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (DaSilva) Silva.

Mary loved to knit and crochet. She often made sweaters for her children, especially during birthdays and holidays. She was a seamstress who was always mending clothing. She enjoyed reading books and doing crossword puzzles in newspapers and magazines

She is survived by her children: Manuel Garcia of North Carolina, Cynthia Garcia of Wareham, Thomas Garcia of Foxboro and Timothy Garcia of Wareham.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.   She was the sister of Arnold Silva of Wareham, Jevel Silva of North Easton, and Elia Perry of Fall River.  She was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Garcia’s funeral will be from the Wareham Village Funeral Home, 5 Center Street, on Thursday, January 10, at 10:00 am, followed by her funeral Mass at 11 O’clock  in Saint Anthony’s Church 35 Gault Road West Wareham, MA 02576.  Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.  Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January, 9, from 4-6 pm in the Wareham Village Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery 1 Bennington Blvd. Bourne, MA 02532 on Thursday January 10, at 12:30 pm.  To leave a message of condolence for the family please visit www.warehamvillagefuneralhome.com
