Joan A. (Stanios) Prescott

Wareham-Joan A. Prescott. 85, of Briarwood Beach, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at home.  She was the wife of the late Edward J. Prescott who passed away in 1977.  Mrs. Prescott was born in Brockton, the daughter of the late John and Edith (Thomas) Stanios. 

Joan attended Brockton Pubic Schools and graduated from Brockton High School, then went on to attend Westbrook Junior College before graduating from Emerson College.  She taught second grade at the Wareham Decas School and then became an art teacher for all the Wareham Elementary Schools for many years.  She loved sketching, painting and print screening, and was recognized for her art with awards in local art shows. Joan appeared in many local theatre productions at both the Marion Art Center and Your Theatre in New Bedford.  She also thoroughly enjoyed her time breeding, raising and showing her beloved Pembroke Welsh Corgis.

She is survived by her sons: Peter Prescott of Providence, RI and Myles Prescott and his with Marybeth of Fall River.  She was the loving grandmother of Taylor, Jordan and Griffin.
