Jean Bacon Obituary

Marion-Jean C. Morgan Bacon, 77, wife of 53 years to Frederic S. Bacon III, of Marion, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 at home with her husband and family at her side.  Mrs. Bacon was born in Taunton, MA the daughter of the late John and Olive (Horton) Morgan.

Jean grew up in Lakeville and was a graduate of Middleborough High School.  She earned her Undergraduate Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, and her Master’s degree from Loyola University, Chicago.  She began her career as a grade school teacher at the Sippican Elementary School in Marion, MA.  Fred and Jean moved to Virginia to start their family near the Naval Base in Norfolk where he was stationed.  After raising three children, Jean re-joined the work force as a substitute teacher then eventually finding her niche as the Public Relations Coordinator for Palatine, Naperville and Addison Park Districts and Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Assn. (NESDRA).

Jean was an accomplished artist.  She loved to sing, write, sew, read and travel.  Because her birthday was on July 4th, there was always a big celebration. Trips to Mount Rushmore, Niagara Falls or to Ned’s Point Light to see the fireworks we’re some of her favorites.

In addition to her loving husband Frederic, Jean is survived by her children; Elizabeth Bacon (David Neville Sr.) of Carver, Sarah (Michael) Buckley of Middleboro and Ned (Aileen) Bacon of Chicago.   She also leaves behind her much loved grandchildren; Katherine Ewen, David Everett, Anne Stevenson, Mary Stevenson and Morgan Bacon, who were the sunshine of her life as well as her brother, Robert (Beverly) Morgan and the Morgan family nieces and nephews.  She was also survived by many loving relatives and friends.  She was the sister of the late John Morgan and Frances Bryant.
