Dorothy Lazarus Obituary

Bourne-Dorothy C. Lazarus, 94, of Bourne formerly of Fairhaven, passed away Saturday August 8, at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing Home in Bourne. Mrs. Lazarus was the wife of the late Harold Lazarus. She was born in New York New York the daughter of the late Herman and Rose (Frank) Sheckman.

Mrs. Lazarus attended New York Public Schools, graduated from Hunter College in New York with an Art Degree and is the former owner of Over Jordan Studio. Mrs. Lazarus enjoyed custom needle point, design and fabrication. A volunteer for many local organizations in Taunton and Wareham she was also a member of the Tobey Guild, Friends of Wareham Library and a Charter Member of the Little Harbor Golf Course.

She is survived by her sons, Melvin Lazarus , and his wife Diane, of Wareham and Stephen Lazarus of Florida. She was the sister of Nathan Sheckman of Florida and grandmother of Scott, and his wife, Laureen of Las Vegas & David Lazarus and Great Grandmother of Mila Lazarus. She was the sister of the late Edward Sheckman. She is also survived by her two nephews Peter Sheckman and his wife, Maryann of Swampscott , Richard Sheckman, and niece, Zoe Landers of California.

Ceremonies: A memorial service will be held on Friday August 21, at 10 am in the Wareham Village Funeral Home 5 Center Street Wareham. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers please make memorial gifts to the Wareham Free Library Foundation, Inc. P.O. Box 485 E. Wareham, MA 02538.
