Channing Morse, Jr. Obituary

Marion-Channing H. Morse, Jr. 85, of Marion formerly of Wareham, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion.  Channing was the husband of the late Nancy B. (Whitcomb) Morse.  He was born in New Bedford the son of the late Channing H. and Laura B. (Washburn) Morse Sr.

Channing was a railway and train enthusiast.  He was a member of the New England Electric Railway Historical Society, Cape Cod Live Steamers, Mystic Valley Railway Society, Inc., and the W.W.F. Railway Museum Wiscasset, Maine.  He was a builder and collector of many model trains and he also enjoyed photography. Channing was also a U.S.A.F veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Morse is survived by his children:  Elizabeth “Betsy” N. Finch of NH and Warren C. Morse of Wareham.  His daughter Melinda “Lindy” Laura McCarthy predeceased him.  He was the grandfather of Erin Baxter, Kayla Morse, Dillon Morse, Ashley Kahler and Aaden Brown. He is the brother of W. Bradford Morse of MA, Wayne W. Morse of NH, Marianna Moseley of Centerville, and Jonathan Morse of Wareham. 

A memorial reception will be held at the First Congregational Fellowship Hall located at 11 Gibbs Ave. Wareham on Saturday August 3, at 2 pm. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Deacons Memorial Fund 11 Gibbs Ave. Wareham, MA 02571.
