Almon Westgate Iii Obituary

Wareham-Almon W. Westgate III, 78, of Wareham passed away Monday August 17, at Tobey Hospital. Almon was the husband of Muriel T. (Emond) Westgate of Wareham. He was born in Wareham, the son of the late Almon W. and Dorothy E. (Flood) Westgate Jr.

Mr. Westgate attended Wareham Public Schools and retired from Commonwealth Electric's Buildings and Grounds Department in 1998. Previously he worked in the cranberry industry for many years for multiple local cranberry growers, in addition to the Massachusetts Department of Energy and Environmental Affairs mosquito control division. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sports, camping, cooking, sport card collecting, traveling and gaming. He always enjoyed a good joke, lively banter and a good old fashion prank. He was a member of the Wareham Improved Order of Redmen.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Jamie Fernandes & her husband Joseph Jr. of N. Dartmouth, Gregory Westgate & his partner Joe Vanny Perez of Union, NJ and Kim Silveira & her husband Daniel Jr. of W. Wareham. He was the grandfather of Kaylee & Brendon Fernandes and Justin & Quintin Silveira. He was the brother of Arthur Westgate & his wife Dorine of Middleboro, Viella Anderson & her husband Michael of FL, Brenda Messina & her husband Frank of ME and Wendy Westgate of E. Wareham. He was the brother-in-law of Mary Westgate of Wareham and the brother of the late Douglas Westgate.

Ceremonies: His funeral will be from the Wareham Village Funeral Home on Saturday August 22, at 8:15 am, followed by a funeral Mass at 9am in Saint Patrick's Church, 82 High Street, Wareham. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will follow in Centre Cemetery Tihonet Rd. Wareham. Visiting hours will be held on Friday August 21 from 5-8pm in the funeral home.
